Tongala Primary School prides itself in its sporting achievements. As a school we compete in a number of team sports, whilst also allowing individuals to follow their passions in many areas. The school participates with neighbouring schools in Winter and Summer Sports competitions and Athletics sports, whilst also holding its own Swimming, Cross Country and House Athletics.
Tongala Primary School enters teams in the local Soccer, Boys and Girls Football, Netball, Basketball, Cricket competitions, as well as a Lawn Bowls team, which incorporates the local Bowling Club and its members.
Our school camping program combines both adventure camps and educational camps from Grades 2-6. Our Grade 2 students have a 1 night camp, whereas the other camp are 2 nights (Grade 3-4) or Weekly (Grade 5-6).
Our camps rotate between adventure camps and educational camps, providing students with new skills and life long memories. Some of the recent camps include Sovereign Hill costume school, Camp Kookaburra (Corop), Malmsbury Adventure Camp, Melbourne CBD Camp, Pioneer Settlement (Swan Hill), Cottage By The Sea (Queenscliff) and Canberra.
Tongala Primary School prides itself on the work and support they provide for the community. We are active participants in local commemorative services, such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
The school also takes part in Ride and Walk Safely to school days, the Community Hay Bale Trail, and partake in fundraising for Freeze MND and other organisations. The school also serves lunches weekly at the Senior Citizens Club.
Tongala Primary School are proud supporters of the local One and All Inclusion Project. This is a local project that supports and teaches students about inclusion, within our community. Part of being involved in this day is that we celebrate the One and All Inclusion Day, where we all wear the inclusion colour of orange and take part in inclusion activities.
